Review and Giveaway of the Triumph Amourette 300 bra - 1

Another month, another giveaway, and this time I'm back in familiar territory - bras!

Those of you who've followed my blog for a while now will be aware of the #knowyoursize campaign, set up by Debenhams as a means of raising awareness about the importance of bra fittings. I think they're one of those things we all know we need to do, but often put off, because we feel like we don't have the time, or perhaps because we don't want to strip off to get measured. I also think that many of us don't realise how often we're supposed to do it - I for one was surprised to learn that the recommended interval for getting measured is every six months. However, Debenhams have really friendly and experienced staff, and the whole process of having a bra fitting in one of their lingerie departments is a lot quicker and easier than you might think. So, if  it's been a while since you last got measured, I'd recommend heading to your local Debenhams. You can read all about my own experience here if you like.

If you find your size has changed, you will of course need to treat yourself to some new bras, and Debenhams is happy to help out by offering one of my lucky readers the chance to win this Triumph Amourette 300 Bra. Covered in lace, it's romantic, pretty and very feminine. I received mine a while back and have really been enjoying wearing it.

Review and Giveaway of the Triumph Amourette 300 bra - 2

The bra isn't padded, but feels very supportive thanks to the underwired cups. It's soft against the skin, yet the fabric feels sturdy with plenty of stretch in it, making it super comfortable to wear. As soon as I unboxed this bra, I could see and feel what good quality it was. I'm confident that it will hold up well to being worn and washed a multitude of times!

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 1

I'm really excited about today's post. First of all, it features the re-vamped No7 Lift & Luminate skincare range, which sounds absolutely fantastic for mature skin. Secondly, there's a giveaway involved, and that's always good news, right?!

I've been a fan of No7 for many years. Their philosophy that beauty is not just about looking good, but about feeling ready to take on the world, is one that I can wholeheartedly get behind, and in fact, their Protect and Perfect line was my first ever introduction to anti-ageing skincare. To this day, it's still my go-to if I'm ever stuck for what to buy. I've never tried Lift & Luminate before, but having read the press release about the recent improvements to this range, I can't wait to give it a go.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 2

No7 have recently revolutionised the entire Lift & Luminate line, so there's no better time to test it out. Taking the powerful technology from their TRIPLE ACTION serum - the UK's number one serum brand - they've added it to their entire skincare range of day cream, night cream and eye cream. No7 believes that skincare works #BetterTogether, and the new and improved Lift & Luminate range is now the hardest working in their entire arsenal, proven to deliver results against the three most common signs of ageing by visibly reducing wrinkles, firming skin and producing a more even skin tone.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 3

The technology in question comprises the following key ingredients:

Matrixyl 3000 PLUS - A powerful peptide blend which smoothes wrinkles to restore more youthful looking skin

Hyaluronic Acid - Provides skin firming benefits through its water retaining abilities

Hibiscus Extract - Rich in peptides and amino acids, helps support collagen production for smoother, firmer skin

Lightening Complex - Contains Emblica (Indian gooseberry) and Vitamin C, to even skin tone and fade pigmentation

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 4

In addition to this potent blend, the day cream contains SPF 15 and 5* UVA, offering No7's most advanced protection against damaging - and ageing - UV rays. No7 claims that use of the day cream will reveal younger looking skin in just two weeks, and will protect your skin for the future with regular use.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 5

The night cream, which works in harmony with skin's night time renewal process to nourish and restore moisture, is supposed to offer immediately visible effects from the morning after the first use, reduced wrinkles and firmer skin after two weeks, and a more rested and radiant looking complexion after four weeks.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 6

The eye cream is especially formulated for the delicate skin in this area, and, it's claimed, will reveal brighter looking eyes in just two weeks. With continued use, you should see crow's feet softened and dark circles and puffiness reduced.

In trials, 88% of women saw even better results from using the new day cream together with the serum, which would seem to suggest that No7 are onto something with their #BetterTogether theory. And now that the new range is available to buy in stores, they've decided to offer a group of Thirty Plus bloggers - and some of our readers - the opportunity to see for themselves. I only received the range a couple of days ago, so I'm going to give you my first impressions now. If you want to know how it works on my skin over the next few weeks, make sure you pop back at the beginning of February to find out, as I'll be posting all about it then.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 7

I usually love the packaging of No7 skincare and this range is definitely no exception. It's neat, elegant and very easy to see which product is which thanks to the simple colour coding. The eye cream and serum have fine nozzles, making it a cinch to dispense the small amount of product you need without any waste. The day and night cream are housed in clear plastic jars. I know a lot of people worry about hygiene when you're constantly dipping your fingers into the product, but so long as your hands are clean there shouldn't really be a problem, and it certainly makes for ease of use.

My immediate impressions of these products are that they are all light to apply and quick to absorb. Fragrance is minimal, but what little is there is fresh and clean. If anything, the day cream feels slightly thicker than the night cream, but neither of them are at all heavy on the skin. I think I'm really going to enjoy using these products, and I can't wait to let you all know the results in a few weeks' time!

So, in the spirit of #BetterTogether, what could be more fitting than to try out these products alongside some of you? No7 are very kindly offering a full set to five of my UK based readers, so if you're interested in testing them out, make sure you enter the giveaway below.

As I mentioned, these products are available now, so if you don't win you can always head over to your local Boots (or Boots.com!) to pick them up. The day cream and night cream retail for £24.95, the eye cream for £17.00 and the 30 ml serum for £27.00. (They are also currently on 3 for 2, so now would be the perfect time to get your hands on them.)

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Range - First Impressions and Giveaway 10

Oh, and if you're interested in seeing what some other bloggers think of this range, then make sure you check out HayleyTraceyAlexJaneLouiseLisaFrithaJo and Sareta who are also taking part in this trial.

Are you a fan of No7 skincare? Have you tried the Lift & Luminate range, and are you as intrigued by the re-vamp as I am? And do you believe that skincare is better together, or do you prefer to mix and match your products? I would love to know!

Finally, don't forget to check back here at the beginning of February to find out how I get on!

Lingerie Giveaway with Debenhams - Win a Wonderbra 1

This may not be the most Christmassy of posts, but I'm back with another bra review courtesy of Debenhams, and I have to say, I think this one might be the best yet! As always, my UK readers will have the opportunity to win the bra in a giveaway at the end of this post. If that's not a great start to the new year, I don't know what is!

As most of you probably know by now, I'm working with Debenhams on their #knowyoursize campaign, which aims to spread the word about the importance of going for regular bra fittings. It's amazing what a huge impact the right size bra can have on your figure, and as a result, on your confidence. A staggering 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra, so if you haven't been measured for a while, I highly recommend it! If you're based in the UK, you can't go far wrong by popping into your local Debenhams and heading straight to their lingerie department. The service is free and their fitters are well trained and friendly. I personally had a great experience at their flagship store on Oxford Street, which you can read about here if you like.

Lingerie Giveaway with Debenhams - Win a Wonderbra 2

So, onto the latest bra they've sent me for review - the Wonderbra Ultimate Deep Plunge Multiway Bra.* Well known for providing a fantastic "boost" to your assets, I've always found Wonderbra to produce attractive underwear and this is definitely no exception to the rule. Not only is this bra incredibly sleek looking, with its smooth lines and minimal satin trim, it's also pure genius. Completely seamless and cut breathtakingly low at the back as well as the front, this is the bra your plunging dresses and wrap around blouses have been crying out for.

Lingerie Giveaway with Debenhams - Win a Wonderbra 4

Debenhams says:

"Unique patented technology offers unrivalled support and the famous Wonderbra cleavage. A must-have bra for deep and plunging necklines. Experience an endless irresistible cleavage and the sexiest effect you have ever had.”

As if that wasn't enough, the multiway straps allow you to wear this as a regular bra, strapless or crossed over at the back. Basically, no matter how challenging that new party dress you've bought, this bra is equal to it.

Lingerie Giveaway with Debenhams - Win a Wonderbra 5

Lingerie Giveaway with Debenhams - Win a Wonderbra 6

I've worn this out on a couple of occasions now and it feels comfortable, but reassuringly firm. It features boning in the centre and at the sides, so although the band sits quite low, the cups mold themselves to your cleavage and hold you in place. This is definitely the most useful addition to my collection for a while and I know it's going to come in handy for a long time to come.

Fancy winning one? Here's what you need to know!
  • This giveaway is UK only
  • The prize is for the Wonderbra Ultimate Deep Plunge Multiway Bra only
  • The bra is available in sizes 32-36A, 32-38 B-D, 30-38DD-F and is worth £35 - the winner will have a choice of black or nude, but, as always, the prize is subject to availability
  • The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and non-negotiable. No cash alternative is available
  • Debenhams Retail PLC will not be liable for any prizes which are lost, delayed or damaged in the post for reasons beyond their control

Giveaway with Debenhams - Triumph Modern Bloom Bra 1

Here I go again, showing off my bra all over the internet. Will I ever stop?!

As you guys know by now, a few months ago, Debenhams invited me to take part in their #knowyoursize campaign. Research shows that as many as 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra, which not only has a negative effect on the way your silhouette looks under your clothes, but can cause serious discomfort as well. Sometimes, the thought of going for a fitting can be a bit of a drag or even a little intimidating, but my own experience at Debenhams was neither of those things. My fitter was both knowledgeable and friendly, and getting measured really took no time at all. Oh, and just in case you were under the impression that you have to go bra-less in order to get measured - you don't. That's a total myth. So if it's been a while since you were last fitted, maybe it's time to think about checking your size. If you're based in the UK, Debenhams really is a great place to get it done - I honestly can't say enough good things about my own experience there. In the meantime, you can always check out their online guide.

Giveaway with Debenhams - Triumph Modern Bloom Bra 2

In order to help promote the importance of regular bra fittings, Debenhams have also very kindly offered to gift another bra to one of my UK readers. This time, it's the Triumph Modern Bloom Bra*.

A full cup, underwired bra with no padding, this is the kind of lingerie I'd probably never pick up in a shop, dismissing it as a bit "frumpy" looking. However, when I took a closer look at this one, I could see that the quality of the fabric and the lace detailing was actually very good. And, when I tried it on, I was surprised by how pretty it was. Although it is a full cup bra, the whole top section is sheer lace, meaning that it really comes into its own when worn as you get that lovely contrast between the opaque and sheer sections. In fact, it's actually quite sexy.

Giveaway with Debenhams - Triumph Modern Bloom Bra 3

It features a 3D flexible wire, which is supposed to provide three times the comfort of a regular wired bra. It certainly is comfortable, with no "digging" even when worn throughout a (very!) long work day. It also feels incredibly supportive for a bra with no padding, which I think must be down to the additional lining on the lower cups and side sling. In short, it's a great one, and I always think you can never have too many black bras, especially at this time of year, when we all tend to wear a lot more darker clothing. It doesn't come with matching briefs, but anything black and a little bit silky will work beautifully with it.

So if you'd like to win this bra, here's what you need to know:
  • The giveaway is UK only
  • The prize is for the Triumph Modern Bloom bra in black only
  • The bra is available in sizes 32DD to 40F (no A cup sizes are available). The prize is worth a total of £38 and is subject to availability

It's true what they say - wearing pretty, matching underwear really is a mood booster! And matching underwear doesn't come much prettier than this gorgeous lace set from Freya. Isn't it lovely? If you like it, make sure you scroll down to the bottom of the post and enter the giveaway, as the lovely people at Debenhams have promised a set to one of my readers!

Giveaway - Lace Lingerie Set from Freya courtesy of Debenhams 1

You might remember that a few months ago, Debenhams very kindly invited me to go for a bra fitting, and I wrote about my experience here. Part of their #knowyoursize campaign, the main aim is to raise awareness of the importance of getting regular bra fittings. Fluctuations in weight and hormonal changes throughout our lives mean that our bra size can go up and down, and while that might seem obvious, an astonishing 8 out of 10 women are still wearing the wrong size. Correcting this can make more of a difference than you think, to your comfort, your figure, and consequently, to your confidence. So if it's been a while since your last fitting, I'd recommend popping into your local Debenhams next time you're passing. I found their fitters so friendly and approachable, and full of good advice about different styles of bra. You can also check out their handy online guide

Once you know your size, you'll need to stock up on some gorgeous new lingerie (any excuse, right?!) so how about this Freya "Fancies"* set for starters?

Giveaway - Lace Lingerie Set from Freya courtesy of Debenhams 2

When I first received it from Debenhams, I literally gasped at how pretty it is. I don't usually opt for brightly coloured underwear, but this set is making me seriously rethink that. It's also incredibly comfortable. All over lace, yes, but it's so soft that it just feels like cotton next to my skin.

The bra is underwired, non-padded, and has a cute bow and peep hole detail at the front. The back features a lower than usual fastening, something that's always useful to have in your collection.

I'm really excited about today's post. For one thing, it features a great giveaway for my UK readers, in which one of you could win a lovely Debenhams bra. The one in this box, to be precise!
Debenhams Bra Fit Campaign Plus Giveaway! #knowyoursize 1
Debenhams Bra Fit Campaign Plus Giveaway! #knowyoursize 2 24 hour strapless bra

It's their 24 hour strapless bra, which is so comfortable to wear and perfect for this summer's shoulder baring trends, but I'll tell you more about it, and how to win it, at the end of the post.

I'm also excited because a few weeks ago, I was invited to take part in the Debenhams Bra Fit Challenge, along with fellow bloggers Sian, Katie, Hollie, Heather and Jessica. For whatever reason, it seems that many women just aren't getting themselves properly fitted for bras, so in order to raise awareness, Debenhams asked the five of us to pop in to see whether we were wearing the right size, and to blog about our experience afterwards. Wearing the wrong bra size can create an unflattering silhouette and spoil the look of your outfit, and can even cause headaches and backache due to lack of proper support, as well as saggy boobs and the ever so attractive "four boob effect", with breasts spilling out of a too-small bra. It's so important to a woman's confidence to wear the right size bra, and that's why I'm so pleased to have been asked to help spread the word about getting properly measured.

Now, I had actually been for a bra fit before my wedding a few years ago, so I was fairly confident that I would be wearing the right size bra. (Before that, I definitely wasn't!) Nevertheless, my Debenhams fitter - a lovely, friendly lady who set me at my ease right away - still had plenty to teach me. For a start, did you know that if you're wearing a very padded bra, you probably need to go up a cup size, because the padding takes up so much space in the cup? Me neither! I also learned that when you buy a new bra, it should fit you snugly when fastened with the outermost set of hooks on the band. Over time, the fabric will stretch, and you can tighten it by switching to the middle hooks and eventually the innermost hooks. By the time the bra no longer feels snug on the innermost hooks, it's time to buy a new one! Finally, my fitter advised me that not being able to find your exact size doesn't necessarily rule out a particular bra. Once you know what your size is, you can always experiment, for example, by going down a cup size if the back size is too large.

Debenhams Bra Fit Campaign Plus Giveaway! #knowyoursize 3

(Image supplied by Debenhams)

I was astonished to learn that the number of women wearing the wrong bra size is actually increasing. Debenhams bra fitters across the country have noticed that while in 2013, 7 out of 10 women were wearing the wrong size bra, that number has now risen to 8 out of 10. Apparently, the main reason for this is that a growing number of women are turning to online guides to gauge their bra size, while there is quite simply no substitute for getting properly measured by a professional fitter. Debenhams also recommends having a fitting every six months, as any fluctuations in weight, for whatever reason, can have an impact on your bra size.

So are you wearing the right size? Here's how to find out!

  • The centre of your bra should sit flat against your chest
  • Wires should fully encompass your bust and sit around the breast - not on it (i.e. no wires poking at your breast tissue)
  • Bust should be fully contained within the cups (no bulging out of the top of the cup, creating a "four boob effect"
  • Make sure you have enough space to fit two fingers underneath the back strap
  • You shouldn't have shoulder indents - these are caused by over-tightening of straps when you're not getting enough support from the band.
You can also check the Debenhams Bra Fitting Guide to see how your bra... well, measures up!

If you think you might be wearing the wrong size bra, or even if it's just been a while since you were last measured, then it probably makes sense to go for a fitting. If you're in the UK then I can't recommend Debenhams enough for this, as their fitters are thoroughly trained and really do their best to make you feel comfortable. Apparently, many women are under the impression that getting fitted for a bra means going bra-less in the changing room, which simply isn't the case. And while it still might feel a little daunting at first, it's worth remembering that whatever your body hang-ups - and we all have them - the fitters have seen it all before! In my case, once I started to get distracted by all the pretty lingerie there was to try on, I totally got over my initial awkwardness of standing in front of the fitter in my bra! And once you see the difference a well-fitting bra makes to your posture and the way your figure looks, it will definitely be worth it.

Debenhams Bra Fit Campaign Plus Giveaway! #knowyoursize 4 24 Hour Strapless Bra

And now for the giveaway! Debenhams have very kindly offered one of their 24 hour strapless bras for one of you to win. They gave one to me too, and let me tell you, it's a cracker.

Debenhams Bra Fit Campaign Plus Giveaway! #knowyoursize 5 24 Hour Strapless Bra

Every woman should own at least one bra like this. Nude in colour and totally seamless, it can be worn under absolutely anything. It has detachable straps, which is brilliant because you can wear it day to day, say with office wear - it's incredibly useful as a regular bra - and then remove the straps when you want to wear sleeveless or strapless dresses and tops. If you're planning on rocking the off the shoulder trend this summer then this bra will serve you very well indeed!

Debenhams Bra Fit Campaign Plus Giveaway! #knowyoursize 6 24 Hour Strapless Bra

It's comfortable to wear and stays up beautifully without the straps - there's nothing worse than continually having to hoik up a strapless bra! I'm not an expert in bra engineering but I'd say this one works so well because of the sturdy, wide supportive band and the almost foam-like full cups that just seem to keep the bust firmly contained. There's also a sheen to the fabric which adds a certain prettiness. This is a nice touch considering that there's no embellishment on the bra whatsoever. It's not padded, but gives you a lifted, natural look. It's quickly become the most useful bra in my collection and I would imagine many women would feel the same about it.

Striped Maxi Dress

Hi everyone!

Just a quick post today to announce the winner of the maxi dress that I posted about here.

Congratulations Coline T, the dress is yours! I'll be contacting you via Twitter shortly for delivery details.

Hope you're all having a lovely day!

I have an impromptu giveaway for you today!

A little while ago, I was approached by Zaful.com, who offered to send me a dress from their website for review. I'd never heard of them, but I saw a lot that I liked when I browsed the site. They're US based, but offer free shipping worldwide and the prices are seriously affordable. They're definitely worth checking out.

The dress I picked was this black and white striped fitted maxi, but unfortunately when it arrived it was far too big for me, even though it was a size small - the smallest size available. Oh well, maybe my loss will be your gain, because I'm going to give it away to one of you!

Here it is.
Black and White Striped Fitted Maxi Dress from Zaful.com

The dress is polyester, ankle length, and as I mentioned, designed to be fitted. I was picturing it with a denim jacket or waistcoat, aviator shades, some simple sandals and a red lip. I'm quite sad that I have to give it away really!

Black and White Striped Fitted Maxi Dress from Zaful.com

The giveaway is open internationally. To give you an idea of the size, I'm a petite 5'3 and usually wear a UK size 8 (US 4). Ordinarily, ordering a small would be no problem, but the dress was very big on me, especially on top. (I'm a typical pear shape, carry most of my weight on my hips and have matchsticks for arms.) I would say this is more of a 10 or even a 12, depending on height and weight. If you think it might work for you and you like the look of it then please feel free to enter. Of course I can't promise that it will be a perfect fit for whoever wins it, but it's got to be worth a shot for a free maxi dress, right?

If you want to be in with a chance of winning, then here's what you have to do:

  1. Follow me on BloglovinInstagram and Twitter,
  2. Leave a comment to let me know you've done this and would like to be entered,
  3. Check back here on Tuesday 1st September when I will announce the winner (selected at random using an online name picker). I will also contact the winner via Twitter.

And that's it! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck!

Kate Louise Blogs will be one year old on Sunday 22nd March. Now if that's not an excuse for a celebration, I don't know what is!

When I first started blogging I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I still don't, really, but I have certainly learned a lot! In the past year I have been to a fancy event in London, met some really lovely fellow bloggers, worked hard at improving my writing and photography skills and, most importantly, received a much-needed boost to my self-confidence, all because of this blog. I can't imagine not doing it now!

But without all you lovely people reading this, none of that would have happened. I really do appreciate every visitor and every comment. Feeling that I'm creating something here that people actually enjoy means more to me than I can say, so I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of you for reading this blog and for every lovely comment you have left over the past twelve months.

I've also decided to do a little giveaway to mark the occasion.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Gift Set

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Gift Set Eau de Toilette

Beautiful packaging aside, it's a light, fresh, floral scent that's perfect for Spring. (Just to be 100% clear, I bought the gift set with my own money. This is not a sponsored post.)

I'm going to keep this simple. For a chance to win the Daisy Dream Gift Set, here's what you have to do:

  1. Make sure you're following me on Bloglovin, Twitter and Instagram.
