Ah, the seventies trend. I think I've mentioned before that when it first started to creep in, I wasn't keen on it at all. Then, slowly, I started to warm towards it, and now I'm full-on embracing it! It's amazing how fashion can persuade you to change your mind so completely. I think that's one of the things I love about it most.
I first saw this dress when it popped up on my Twitter feed, and
it was love at first sight. The wintry floral print is so pretty and I
love the femininity of the relaxed, boho style. There's definitely more
than a hint of the seventies about this dress, and because of that,
chances are it's not going to look quite right this time next year.
But... it was only £14.99, so who cares?! Classic clothing is wonderful,
but sometimes it's nice to just have a bit of fun with the latest
trends. I'm definitely feeling the fun in fashion right now.
I wore the dress out to dinner on my birthday a couple of weeks ago with
spike heeled ankle boots, but it works really well for daytime too. You
just have to make sure you have some thick tights and a jacket on if
you're out and about, as it's quite thin material.
Dress, Boots, Sunglasses - H&M, Jacket - Warehouse
The dress is from H&M, and I have to say I'm loving their stuff at
the moment. H&M is one of those places that's brilliant to shop in
if you need to stock up on quite a few things, as the prices are so
reasonable and the quality generally pretty high.
I've really enjoyed wearing a deep
berry lip with this dress. This one is Rimmel The Only One lipstick in
Under My Spell, together with a Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner of the same
name. If you haven't tried Rimmel's The Only One range, I really do
recommend checking it out. The finish and staying power are seriously
impressive for a drugstore lipstick, and I'm totally in love with this
shade.
Are you embracing the seventies trend? And what's your favourite shop for picking up fashion bargains?

I have been loving the 70s trend since it first made its appearance, but I am not able to fully give in because I am limited by my gigantic belly.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy H+M or Zara for "fashionable" pieces too, and try to invest in classics that I know I will wear more than one season.
Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
I bet those beautiful loose, peasant style blouses would look gorgeous over a baby bump! I agree with you - spend more on the stuff that will last, and fritter just a little away on the fun, fleeting items! x
DeleteI love your dress, it's such a pretty pattern! You look lovely :) xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Nevena! x
DeleteI think these boho dresses look just amazing in the fall. I love this look!

Thanks Sara! x
DeleteI do adore the 70's trend and I hope it's here to stay. I have yet to fully dive into the whole boho chic 70's thing, the closest I come to it is with my flare jeans but I'm slowly looking to add more pieces to my wardrobe. How tall are you, Kate because you look amazing in the dress whereas I know I would look like I'm drawing in it.

Haha, I'm 5'3, and I have to say my maxi dresses sometimes drag on the floor! I've got heels on with this one. x
Deletegorgeous look! the pattern is lovely and the seventies look is awesome anyway. xx

DeleteYou look stunning! That dress + autumn background = perfect! I love the black leather jacket you got, I've been wanting to find a staple jacket like that!
ReplyDeleteMacarons and Mischief
This one's years old and I wear it with everything! X
DeleteI absolutely adore this dress! If only they did it in their plus size collection, but alas h&m's PS choices are a real let down :(
ReplyDeleteWww.curvesandcurl.co.uk
Ah that's a real shame. I don't know why stores still haven't cottoned on to the fact that actually very few of us are built like supermodels! If they're making a dress they should make it for everyone. X
DeleteOh my gosh! this dress is everything Kate! it fits you like a glove. I love the length, the print and the leather jacket you teamed it up with. You look so chic!

You make a fair point Gabrielle - it is kind of difficult not to embrace the seventies trend at the moment! x
DeleteLooking so enchantingly beautiful Kate! The 70s trend suits you so well, this floaty maxi was just made for you. I'm happy you're enjoying the 70s vibes out there, you work them so perfectly ;) Definitely agree that H&M are winning at the moment; I'm loving their green glittery pieces. The jacket and boots nail this look too. Very much in love with the fairytale-esque setting you've got as a stunning backdrop. Just perfect! <3

I think this is the first time I've worn a maxi dress in winter! Makes a change from my usual jeans and jumpers. You should definitely bring out your gowns! x
DeleteLove that dress on you! I am actually quite excited about the 70s trend and I can't wait to get flare jeans to start with :) x
ReplyDeleteMummy’s Beauty Corner
Thanks Dagmara! Flared jeans is the one thing I'm still holding back on. I used to love them in the nineties but I'm not sure I'm ready to go there again quite yet. Watch this space though! x
DeleteThank you! x
ReplyDeleteI have this dress and LOVE it! So fun to wear. Totally 70s, super cozy, and is super easy to just throw on + go. :) You look lovely here, lady!

What a beautiful dress! I usually associate maxi dresses with Summer but I love how you paired it with boots and a leather jacket, making it very Autumn appropriate. x
ReplyDeleteRenata | Speaking Beauty UK
I couldn't get excited about the seventies trend either, until I tried on and bought my first pair of bellbottoms in over a decade! They're so flattering! Speaking of flattering, this dress is beautiful! The colors look great on you and I love how you gave it a more modern, edgy twist with that leather jacket :)
