The Classic Colour Palette

Wow, it got cold all of a sudden! Much of November has been so mild and sunny here in South Yorkshire that this rapid drop in temperature has taken me by surprise. ALL the warm clothes have had to come out, pretty sharpish. (This may or may not include thermal vests, but I'll preserve some mystery and leave that to your imagination.)

Winter #OOTD featuring H&M coat and Shein scarf

As much as I love winter fashion, it takes a lot more financial outlay than its summery counterpart, and coats in particular can be really pricey. Yet when we spend so much of the year in coats, it's nice to have a couple of different options. I really fancied getting a camel coat this year, but didn't want to spend a fortune on it, so I was thrilled when I saw this one in H&M for only £59.99. (Yes, I'm slowly working my way towards acquiring H&M's entire winter collection.) It's from their Conscious Collection and is really nice quality - properly lined and nicely weighty, and 58% wool. It's a wraparound style, a bit like a dressing gown, which means you get a double layer of warmth at the front - plus no pesky buttons to do up! It's also available in grey, but I liked the contrast of the dark camel colour against my new black and white scarf.

The scarf is from Shein. It's the second piece I've been gifted from the brand and I love it. I must admit I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality. Shein's clothes are sold at very low prices and my expectations were pretty low, but this scarf is lovely - super soft, a nice thickness and really warm. It could easily pass as a piece from Topshop or Zara and I already know I'm going to wear it to death throughout the winter.

I wore this combination over jeans and a jumper to run a few errands the other day, and with a slick of red lippie - Mac's Russian Red, which I'm loving at the moment - I felt nicely pulled together. Camel with black and white is such a classic colour palette in the winter months. You can't go wrong!

  1. That coat is really beautiful & I am in love with your bag! I love to wear berry tones, black & grey in winter, sometimes with some pale blue mixed in too. Might check out this coat in grey (not that I need another coat!) xx

  7. I don't wear much color come winter, only accents (usually red) against grey, black or white clothing. But none of my coats fit at the moment, so it is my grey parka that I can hopefully close until Peanut is born in March.

  10. I wish there's a H&M in the town that I live but nope, the nearest one if 3 freaking hours drive away and I can't order clothes online due to size differences. I bounce between size XS for women or size S for Juniors and it depends on the design and cutting of the clothes. :-(

You look absolutely lovely with the coat and please share what lipsticks are you wearing here? That red is fierce on you, love it!

    1. Hi Layla, my mum was born here and I've visited since I was a kid, so part of me has always felt I belong here! South Yorkshire and Kent are different worlds, despite being just a few hours drive away, but I do love and appreciate both. x
