Light And Bright Spring/Summer Makeup + Discount Code For Lola Makeup

Once again, I have been kindly gifted three more products from Lola Makeup. Just like on the first occasion, I was inspired to create a makeup look based around those products, and you can see exactly how I achieved that look as well as my thoughts on the makeup in the video below. However, if you would rather see a quick run down of each one, then just keep reading!

Finishing Brush (AD)

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation And Lola Finishing Brush

With its two types of synthetic hair in differing lengths, this brush reminds me a lot of the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. I find it really effective to use for applying foundation as it distributes the perfect amount of product evenly across my complexion. The finished result looks airbrushed, leaving behind very minimal brush strokes which are easily smoothed out with my fingers. This has quickly become my new favourite tool for applying base products.

Extra Slim Pen Eyeliner (AD)

Lola Extra Slim Eyeliner

Lola Extra Slim Eyeliner Swatch

This is easy to apply, even for those of us who don't wear liner very often. The fine nib ensures a clean, precise line and would be ideal for creating sharp, cat-eye flicks. I use it just to bring some definition to my upper lash line, and it's great for that too. It glides on smooth as silk and is a beautifully pigmented, inky black colour.

Matte Liquid Lipstick in Strawberry Peck (AD)

Lola Matte Liquid Lipstick in Strawberry Peck Swatch

Having already had one of Lola's Matte Liquid Lipsticks before, I was excited to find I had been sent another. These have a lovely creamy formula to them and feel very comfortable to wear, with fantastic pigmentation that stands the distance through a night out. The shade Strawberry Peck is a gorgeous, vibrant pink that inspired the sunset vibe of the look I created over on YouTube.

Do check out my video if you'd like to see how I put it together.

Finally, if you're thinking of doing any shopping on the Lola Makeup Website, then I have a little treat for you - you can enter the code "katelouiseblogs" at checkout to receive 10% off your order.

Testing Lola Makeup And A Super Easy Smoky Eye

This post contains gifted products, which are marked "AD". You can read my full disclaimer here.

Recently, I was contacted by a brand called Lola Makeup, who asked if I would like to test out some of their products and share my findings with you. The answer to this question is usually yes, particularly when the brand in question is affordable, British designed and cruelty free, and prides itself on creating high quality products with real women in mind. I was sent an automatic eye pencil, mascara and liquid lipstick, so I incorporated them into an evening makeup look featuring a super easy smoky eye.

If you would like to see how I created the look, as well as hear my opinions on the Lola products, I filmed a tutorial and you can either watch it over on my YouTube channel or right here.

No time to watch right now? No worries! I've summarised my opinions on each of the three products below.

Automatic Eye Pencil (AD)

Lola Makeup Automatic Eye Pencil

Soft, creamy and deepest black, this is the perfect pencil for adding smoky, smudgy definition to your lash line. I wouldn't recommend it for precise lines but it's perfect to create that smoked out eye look. Even I can use it without too much difficulty, so it must be foolproof! The pencil can be twisted upwards to reveal more of the nib, but due to its soft texture you do need to be a little bit careful with it to prevent any of it from snapping off.

Volume Mascara (AD)

Lola Makeup Volume Mascara

A nice "all-rounder" type of mascara with a natural bristle wand as opposed to a plastic one. Affordable, and very good at coating each lash while also separating and defining them. While it is not the most impressive mascara I have ever tried in terms of delivering on length and volume, it is excellent at avoiding clumping and stuck together lashes.

Matte Liquid Lipstick (AD)

Lola Makeup Matte Liquid Lipstick in First Date

My favourite of the three products. I have the shade First Date, which is a beautiful mid-pink. The formula is creamy and gives a lovely matte finish without being in the least drying on the lips. It's highly pigmented, gives a perfectly even finish and will see you through dinner and drinks with barely the need for a touch up. Gorgeous!

Get Ready With Me - Pink Toned, Simple Spring Makeup Look - 1

Soft pink with a bit of glow is definitely a go-to look of mine when it comes to makeup, and it's perfect for the sunny weather we've been enjoying recently. If you like this look, you can watch my Get Ready With Me to find out how I created it, either on My YouTube channel or right here. If you don't like it, I'd advise you not to watch, as the sight of my makeup free face right after a couple of days of illness just isn't something you need to see if you're not invested in the end result! If nothing else, this video is proof of the transformative powers of even the simplest of makeup looks.

What makeup have you been enjoying since the weather took a turn for the better?
