It's not like me to splurge on makeup, but lately I've been feeling as though my collection was looking a little bit old and tired. With spring in the air, I threw my usual caution to the wind and treated myself to a couple of really nice new products - let's just say that my makeup bag is looking decidedly more interesting now! The products in question (besides a couple of Mac lipsticks, which are more of a necessity than a luxury if you ask me!) are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eyeshadow Palette (AD) and the Too Faced Natural Face Palette (AD). Both are fairly extravagant purchases, but the quality is so lovely and the shades so wearable that I have no doubt I will get my money's worth from each of them.
In addition to my own little spending spree, I have also received a few new products from Lola Makeup recently. After they were kind enough to send me some of the items featured in my last makeup video, I was thrilled to receive another package containing their BB Cream (AD), Infinite Lash Mascara (AD) and Lip Pencil in Nude Obsession (AD).
To hear my thoughts on all these products as well as see them in action, you can watch my video on YouTube or right here.
Have you bought any new makeup for spring?

To be honest, every makeup look I do could be prefaced with the word "easy", and the vast majority of them with the word "everyday". But since the change in seasons has inspired me to switch my usual gold and bronze eyeshadows for something a little different, I thought I would share the results with you in a quick video. You can watch it over on YouTube, or below.
I've been loving these burgundy/toffee apple tones, and the whole look takes no longer than ten minutes to throw together. Great for busy mornings!
What makeup have you been loving lately?

As you read this, my holiday will be almost at an end, so with any luck I am looking bronzed and feeling very chilled out and relaxed right now!
Before I went away, I filmed a What's In My Travel Makeup Bag, and it turned out I was taking a lot more stuff than I thought! Hopefully there are some bits and pieces in here that you will find interesting.
There are a couple of crazy lighting changes at the beginning of this video - it seems my single soft box light isn't quite enough to counteract the effects of the sun going in and out. It does get a lot more stable later on, so hopefully it's not too distracting. YouTube, like blogging in general, is definitely a learning curve!
As always you can watch the video right here or over on my YouTube channel if you prefer. Hope you enjoy!
I'm curious to know - do you travel light or heavy when it comes to makeup?

It's unusual for me to go out and buy (almost) an entire makeup range in one go, but having seen L'Oreal's gorgeous no makeup makeup featured on several blogs over the past couple of months, I just couldn't resist. Featuring a BB Cream, bronzer and peachy blush as well as seriously Instagram worthy highlighters in both palette and liquid form, the whole range promises to give you a beautifully natural and effortless, "I woke up like this" glow. As that is pretty much exactly what I want to look like, particularly in the summer time, and because the products looked so pretty across my social media feeds, I didn't think too hard before giving into the hype. I've only been trying these out for a little while, so this will be something of a first impressions post, but no doubt my favourites will feature in some upcoming makeup looks I'm planning on putting together over the summer months.
Bonjour Nudista Skin Tint BB Cream
Nicely packaged in a pretty, lightweight and portable tube, this looks like the perfect base to take away with you on a summer holiday. It's available in 5 shades (Light, Medium Light, Medium, Medium Dark and Dark), and offers a breathable formula, light coverage and a luminous glow.
The shade Medium Light is a good match for my skin tone, and the product feels beautiful to apply, almost like a face cream. Unfortunately, no matter how much I put on, it seems to disappear into my skin like a face cream too, providing me with a coverage so sheer I might as well not have bothered applying it (or indeed buying it) in the first place. It's a shame, as it looks like such a pretty product, but while I am much more a fan of lighter base products these days than I used to be, I still like them to provide at least some coverage. So, unfortunately, I am not a fan of this one.

Glow Mon Amour Highlighting Drops
This versatile liquid highlighting product is available in two shades, Champagne and Bellini. With it being summer, I opted for the warmer, decidedly golden goddess like Bellini. Housed in a not particularly travel friendly glass bottle with a messy drop applicator, it is nevertheless a beautiful product, offering all the peachy, shimmery goodness anyone could want. You can use this in a variety of ways, but my current favourite is to add a couple of drops to my foundation to add a subtle, all over sun-kissed glow.
Left, Bonjour Nudista BB Cream in Medium Light, Right, Glow Mon Amour Highlighting Drops in Bellini
Back To Bronze Matte Bronzing Powder
This is described as a soft matte bronzer with no shimmer or glimmer, perfect for adding a natural bronzed glow to the skin. The colour is warm without being too orange, and looks beautiful dusted over the high points of the face as an all over glow. It's quite pigmented, so a light hand is needed, but I think it would also be a great product for contouring with if that's something you like to do. A really nice useful bronzer to keep in your stash.
Life's A Peach Blush Powder
A gorgeous warm blush that actually smells of peaches! Again, this is heavily pigmented and a little goes a long way, but it really does look so beautiful on. Along with the bronzer, I've been wearing this a lot since I got it. The two together give the most gorgeous, healthy summer glow. If you're not into the highlighters so much, you could skip those in favour of these two products in order to create that warm, bronzed look without the sparkle.
Just like the liquid highlighter, this highlighting palette is available in warm and cool toned options. I went for the warm, and I love it! You can wear all four shades together for a super glowy look. I have tried this and kind of love it, but it is a little too much for everyday wear for me, so I will save it for my next date night. For a softer glow, the two lighter shades are beautiful and very wearable, and I can see all four working as eyeshadows too, although this is something I have yet to try. If you are a highlight fan then I would definitely recommend this, as there are so many lovely options for combining the different shades together.
La Vie En Glow Highlighting Powder Palette in Warm Glow. From top - Sundust, Blazing Gold, After Love, Bronze Kiss
The BB cream aside, I have no regrets about buying any of these products and I'm sure I will be getting plenty of use out of all them throughout the warmer months. If you're looking for some new makeup to give you that natural, glowy, beach goddess glow this summer, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend L'Oreal's No Makeup Makeup range. The best thing is, it won't break the bank either, so more money for bikinis!

I flit between a lot of different requirements when it comes to my base makeup. Flawless or natural, matte or dewy, bronzed or fair - I could want any of those things on any given day. One thing I always want from my base, however, is longevity. No matter what look I'm going for, I want it to last the distance. There's nothing worse than being in the middle of an event/meeting/day out and worrying that your face is falling off! Lately, I've been using a combination of products that seems to work really well, giving me a natural yet polished base that lasts a solid 8 or more hours of wear. It would be remiss of me not to share, so here are my 5 hero products for a long lasting base.
1. Ren Perfect Canvas Skin Finishing Serum
I've rediscovered this primer in recent months and I'm thrilled to have it back in my collection. It's so light to wear which is lovely in the warmer weather, and really feels more like a serum than a primer. My skin feels instantly smoother after I've applied this, and no matter what foundation I wear, I notice an improvement in how long it lasts when I have this on underneath. As if that wasn't enough, Perfect Canvas contains hyluronans, which increase the hydration and elasticity of the skin, as well as a-Glucans to promote the growth of skin friendly bacteria and optimise skin health. A primer that feels light as air, nourishes your skin and makes your makeup last longer? Yes please! I wrote a more in-depth review of Perfect Canvas a while back so do check it out if you're interested in this product.
2. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
This is my most recent purchase of the 6, although I gave a very brief first impressions of it in this vlog. Bought on a bit of a whim, I picked it up because I was in need of a new foundation and had the vague idea in the back of my mind that I had heard good things about this one. I've been wearing it every single day since I bought it and I'm so impressed. I got the shade True Ivory, which is a great match for my fair to medium skin tone. It's a creamy formula with higher coverage than I've used for a while, but the finish is still very natural and gives a lovely glow to the skin. It lasts a decent length of time on its own, but does even better when layered over the Ren primer. Containing hydrating properties as well, it's the best drugstore foundation I've tried in a long time and I will definitely be repurchasing when I finish my bottle. It's under £10 anyway, but I've found it on sale at Very if you feel like giving it a go.
3. Clarins Instant Concealer
While I've been loving the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer recently, I feel that the Clarins Instant Concealer just has the edge when it comes to not settling into fine lines during the course of the day, so that's why I've gone with this one for my current favourite long lasting base products. It's also very effective at brightening the under eye area and conceals blemishes nicely too. The packaging isn't my favourite as it's a little messier to apply than concealers with a doe-foot applicator, but I can put up with that as it gives such lovely results. The texture is fairly fluid, which I think helps to keep it from sinking into lines, yet it packs a punch when it comes to coverage too. For anyone over a certain age, or indeed anyone who worries about their concealer making them look older due to emphasising lines, this is a great one to go for.
4. Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Loose Powder
This lighter than air, finely milled setting powder is perfect for setting the concealer under my eyes. Containing micronised pigments, it's designed to keep from settling into fine lines, while the transparent white colour adds a subtle brightening effect. I don't set my whole face with this, just under my eyes, where the extra brightening is welcome. It's perfect for adding that additional layer of protection to my under eye makeup without disturbing what's already there.
5. Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist
Once I've applied the rest of my makeup over the base products mentioned above, I'll set it all in place with a quick spritz of Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist. Containing rose water and green tea, this smells like a spring morning, contains skin hydrating and balancing properties and feels so lovely to use. It leaves my makeup looking fresh and ever so slightly dewy and helps to prolong the wear just that little bit further. You can also carry it with you for a quick refresh on the go, as the hit of hydration it provides can help to stop makeup sinking into lines as the day wears on. My one criticism of this product is that I wish the spray was a little bit finer, but I do love using it and definitely feel it helps my makeup last longer.

Soft pink with a bit of glow is definitely a go-to look of mine when it comes to makeup, and it's perfect for the sunny weather we've been enjoying recently. If you like this look, you can watch my Get Ready With Me to find out how I created it, either on My YouTube channel or right here. If you don't like it, I'd advise you not to watch, as the sight of my makeup free face right after a couple of days of illness just isn't something you need to see if you're not invested in the end result! If nothing else, this video is proof of the transformative powers of even the simplest of makeup looks.
What makeup have you been enjoying since the weather took a turn for the better?
I've been keen to try something from The Ordinary for a while now. Rarely has a brand been more hyped, and there have been so many glowing reviews for many of the products. As I was in need of a new foundation, I decided to go for The Ordinary Serum Foundation as my first purchase from the brand. At less than £6, it's probably the cheapest foundation I've ever bought! I decided to go for the Serum Foundation rather than the heavier Coverage Foundation as I had read from several sources that it offers a lightweight, natural finish, buildable coverage and is suitable for all skin types.
I used Findation to find my shade. It's a website where you can input the shades of foundations you already own, and it will tell you which shade to buy in any other. This is handy when it comes to buying a foundation that isn't easily available in a store. I was matched to shade 1.0N, which is possibly a little too light for me but definitely an acceptable match when you add a little bit of bronzer.
While this is far from ideal, I have found a way to prolong the life of this foundation. With a mattifying primer underneath (I've been using Ren Perfect Canvas Skin Finishing Serum) and a fixing spray over the top (my current favourite being Pixi Make-Up Fixing Mist) I can get closer to four hours out of it before it starts to deteriorate.
My skin type is best described as "temperamental" - it can go through dry phases, but is usually slightly oily through my t-zone, especially my chin. My cheeks are definitely not oily, yet both the slippery application phase and the powdery deterioration that happens later seem to affect my face as a whole, so I can't really say that it would be more suited to either drier or oilier skin types than mine. Perhaps, after all, it's equally suited to all skin types, but is just generally a bit difficult to work with!
Would I buy this again? Yes, because it is so affordable, because the finish is so lovely and because I have found a way to prolong that finish to a semi-decent amount of time. However, if one of those three criteria had remained unfulfilled, I would probably have said no.
Have you tried The Ordinary Serum Foundation? If so, I would love to know how it performed for you and what your skin type is! Let me know.

Packaging
Super lightweight and with a pump applicator that can be closed during transit, the packaging of the Serum Foundation is about as user friendly as it gets. There's something quite chic and stylish about it too, and even though it doesn't look as luxe as my Chanel foundation, it's still pleasing to the eye when displayed on my dressing table.
Application
The consistency of this foundation is very light, almost watery, and if I'm honest I find it difficult to apply. It tends to slide all over my face, regardless of whether I use a brush or my fingers. I have learnt to apply it with a buffing brush first as best I can, and then perfect it with my fingers after that to get rid of the unsightly brush strokes, which seems to do the trick. I've never been a fan of makeup sponges, so don't possess any, but perhaps that would be the best tool for the job. Once I have battled through the application process, it seems to take a minute or two to settle down, so I tend to go away and do something else before attempting to apply the rest of my makeup.
Once the foundation has settled, it looks beautiful. It provides a radiant glow without being in any way too dewy, and gives a decent amount of coverage while still looking totally natural. The lightweight formula is also very comfortable to wear. All this for less than £6? At this point, immediately after application, it feels like the best foundation ever.
Unfortunately, however, the lovely finish doesn't last very long. Or at least it doesn't on me. Strangely, for something that is so wet to apply, after a couple of hours it starts to take on a powdery appearance. I have my share of skin concerns, but large pores has never been one of them. Yet somehow this foundation seems to find them and sink into them. The picture below was taken after I had been wearing it for about two hours. After another two hours, it looks quite a bit worse than this, and I wouldn't want to be out and about without the means to fix my makeup.

Although I don't own Maybelline Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, I'm aware of how popular it is, and I think that's the reason this burgundy version jumped out at me when I spotted it on the Boots website a little while back. I believe it was launched last Autumn, and given the blogosphere's love for all things burgundy at that time of year, I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen more of it on Instagram over the past few months - although, that said, who knows what treasures the algorithm is hiding from us these days! From the outset, this seemed to tick so many boxes - pretty as a picture, full of on trend, warm toned shadows and super affordable at just £11.99. I felt it was nothing less than my duty as a blogger to buy it and review it for you. So without further ado, here are my thoughts on Maybelline The Burgundy Bar Eyeshadow Palette. You can thank me later.
Packaging
While not as luxe as higher end offerings, the plastic packaging is lightweight and practical and still sturdy enough to hold everything together in transit, with a nice secure closure. It comes with a dual ended applicator which has a sponge on one end and a brush on the other. It's always handy to have these in an emergency, though I think that most people will probably prefer to use their own eyeshadow brushes. (I found that both ends of the applicator produced a bit of powdery fallout from the shadows, which wasn't the case when I used my own brushes.)
Shades
The palette contains a beautiful combination of warm gold, copper and of course, burgundy shades. As I mentioned, a lot of people will probably love this in the Autumn, but I think these colours are very wearable all year round, and in fact I can imagine them looking really beautiful on a balmy summer evening (she says, as the snow falls steadily outside the window). The shades aren't named, but are carefully arranged so that each quad, trio and duo that sit next to each other will go together perfectly. All are shimmers, apart from the two browns at the far right hand side, which are mattes. The selection is actually quite versatile, enabling you to create everything from a simple nude look to a full on deep copper and red showstopper for a night out.
Formula
For a drugstore palette, I think the quality of the shadows is very impressive. All of them have that pleasant, buttery soft formula that makes them easy to blend and work with, and pigmentation is great across the entire colour spectrum - the swatches in my photo are without primer underneath, so that gives you a good indication of just how strongly pigmented they are.
In my opinion, this is an excellent budget buy. The quality is great, the shades are beautiful and the palette as a whole offers the potential to create many different looks. I have a lot of neutrals in my eyeshadow collection, so this was a great addition as it gives me something that little bit different while still being very wearable. If you're a fan of warm shadows then I think you would love this.
Do you have any favourite drugstore palettes in your collection?

Glowing skin is something a lot of us strive for, but it can be tricky to achieve in the depths of a cold and gloomy winter. Often, January is also a month when we haven't got a lot of money to throw around on beauty products, but luckily the drugstore is on hand to help us out on both counts! My skin has been behaving itself pretty well lately, but something about this dull, stormy weather we've been having has made me crave a little more brightness. So, I did a spot of online shopping at Boots, and managed to find two affordable makeup products that have helped me to achieve glowing skin, even in the midst of this spectacularly dull January!
Makeup Products For Glowing Skin - The Illuminating Primer
I've been wanting to try an illuminating primer for a while. Although I do usually have a slightly oily t-zone, my skin has been very balanced lately, and it has never had that much of what you might call natural radiance, so I wasn't particularly worried about it looking too dewy. I opted for the Collection Illuminating Touch Liquid Radiance Highlighter, which set me back a very reasonable £5.99.
In a simple glass bottle with practical pump dispenser, the product looks almost white, with a distinct sparkle to it when you hold it up to the light. I presume this is due to the "gold illuminating pearl" with which it's infused. It's weightless to apply, and melts into the skin leaving behind the subtlest sheen and definitely no trace of glitter. I find that my foundation glides effortlessly over this and that the finish is smoother and more flawless. I've been using Chanel Les Beiges almost every day for a while now, and the Illuminating Touch primer complements it very nicely, lending a touch more impact to the "natural glow" this foundation has. It is also, in my opinion, still perfectly wearable for everyday and not in the least over the top.
Makeup Products For Glowing Skin - The Liquid Highlighter
Like the primer, the highlighter is light as a feather and a little goes a very long way. You could quite easily build up a "see it from space" look with this product if you wanted to, although blending a small amount into the skin gives a more subtle result. I tend to dab a little across my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and my cupid's bow, and find it gives a beautiful pearlescent sheen.
Left - Primer, Right - Highlighter
These two products have definitely brightened up my January - and my skin! Best of all, they didn't break the bank either. What are your favourite makeup products for glowing skin?

Happy New Year! I'm a little late getting back to the blog this year, but I do have a new video up on my YouTube channel if you fancy checking it out. Producing regular content for both platforms is something I'm going to have to get used to, particularly as I already feel like I ought to be posting more on my blog as it is. Not quite sure how I'm going to work that one out, but we'll have to see how it goes!
About The Brand
A collaboration between British high street institution Marks & Spencer and the model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rosie For Autograph has been going since 2012. It started as a lingerie line and over the years has expanded to include sleepwear, lounge wear, active wear and a makeup range. It's available in Marks & Spencer stores and online, although international shipping is somewhat limited, from what I can see.
Aesthetic
Like Rosie herself, everything about the brand is incredibly feminine, but in a sophisticated rather than girly way. The lingerie sets are made from silk and French lace, cashmere features heavily in the lounge wear pieces and the makeup is housed in very Instagram-worthy rose gold packaging. In my opinion, it's some of the best that Marks & Spencer has to offer, and I wouldn't dream of visiting the store without checking out the latest offerings. I'm a little bit obsessed, I must admit!
Price Point
This might not be the cheapest brand in the world, but it's not prohibitively expensive either. A typical lingerie set will set you back about £40, with a pair of pyjamas costing around the same price or a little less. The pure cashmere range is more expensive (£199 for a pure cashmere full length dressing gown, for example), but I love the fact that they also offer cashmere mix pieces at a more affordable price point, making it an accessible luxury for everyone.
The makeup is a little bit cheaper than what you would pay in Mac, with a lipstick costing around £14 and a foundation around £20. Rosie's signature perfume comes in at £28 for 75 ml. I find the quality to be excellent across the whole brand and overall, I think that the prices are very reasonable considering what you are getting for your money.
Lingerie, Nightwear And Lounge Wear
My first introduction to Rosie For Autograph was through the lingerie sets, which I fell in love with due to their winning combination of being attractive yet practical to wear under clothing. While that doesn't sound particularly ground-breaking, I often find that underwear tends to fall into one of two categories. Either it will sit nicely under your outfit and give you a decent silhouette, in which case it tends to be boring and frumpy looking, or it's for display purposes only (if you catch my drift, nudge nudge, wink wink.) With Rosie for Autograph lingerie, you get gorgeous, smooth silky fabrics in rich colours or delicate prints, with cleverly placed lace trims, so it actually functions as underwear, but you never feel as though you are compromising on style. I've had quite a few sets over the years and have always found them to be very wearable under almost anything.
It's a similar story with the nightwear. A few years ago, I used to struggle to find anything that wasn't covered in cartoon characters (I'm not 14), made of flanneling (I'm not 92) or... well, for display purposes only. Nowadays, I think that more brands have cottoned on to the fact that there's a call for a more sophisticated option, but Rosie For Autograph was one of the first - at least as far as I'm aware - to offer it. It's still one of my favourite places to buy nightwear to this day. My latest is this beautiful silky pyjama set, although I must admit I would also love to add some of the cashmere lounge wear to my collection.
Beauty
It's taken me a while to get around to trying any of the beauty products - goodness knows why. The most recent addition to my collection is the perfume, which I am completely obsessed with - I am sitting at my desk spritzing more and more of it over myself as I write this! It's made with the oil of handpicked French roses, which makes me feel like a princess just thinking about it, and rose is at the heart of the fragrance itself. It's floral, romantic and very feminine, has a freshness to it on first application and eventually wears away to a warm sandalwood, vanilla and musk base. It really is beautiful and I love the heavy glass, vintage style bottle almost as much as the perfume itself.
I have also been seriously impressed with both the eyeshadow sticks and the lipstick which I purchased last year. The shades of the eyeshadows (I have Almond Eyes - the pale gold colour - and Movie Star Crush) are just stunning, and the formulas contain just the right amount of sparkle. The lipstick (Lady Rose) is the perfect pinky nude for me and I'm a huge fan of the creamy, pigmented finish and smooth application. Plus, the magnetic closure on the tube is a really nice touch. I'm wearing it in the photos below, together with the Almond Eyes eyeshadow stick.
Shop My Favourites
There's something about the Rosie For Autograph brand that really appeals to me, and no doubt you will be seeing more of it from me in the future! Is anyone else a fan?
