Happy New Year! (Yes, I know it's a bit belated.)
I hope you're all doing well and getting 2016 off to a cracking start. I have a severe case of deja vu at the moment, as just like last January, Mike and I are preparing to move house. As exciting as it is, I do wish we could just wave a magic wand and all the upheaval would be over. It's kind of frustrating to have to put everything else on hold, especially now, when I'm itching to get started on New Year goals. But it can't be helped, so please do bear with me if blog posts are a little sporadic for a while. I'll be back to normal as soon as I possibly can, and after that it will be onwards and upwards! (She says optimistically.)

In the meantime, I want to tell you about some products I was recently sent by a company called Billion Dollar Brows. I hadn't actually heard of them before, but I think that's probably because they were a salon brand until quite recently. Now, they've branched out into mainstream retail, and their products are available from Boots. They sent me two kits - the 60 Seconds to Beautiful Brows Kit and the Best Sellers Kit.
The first thing that struck me about both kits was how much cardboard packaging there seems to be to house such small, slimline products. It all looks very nice, but somehow opening up a large box to find a couple of little pencils inside gives a feeling of disappointment, which is a shame, because there's nothing disappointing about the products themselves.
The 60 Seconds to Beautiful Brows kit contains a pot of powder in the shade Taupe - their most popular shade and said to be suitable for light to dark hair colours and skin tones, (You can buy different shades of this powder separately.) You also get an angled brush with s spoolie on the other end. I haven't actually timed myself to see if I can groom my brows with the spoolie, then define the shape and fill them in with the powder and the angled brush in 60 seconds, but it's definitely a nicely pared down approach to brow maintenance. The powder is a mid ash brown shade, with just the right amount of colour pay off for brows, so I can see how it could work for all but the very lightest of hair colours.
The Best Sellers Kit comes with a Universal Brow Pencil, a Brow Duo Pencil (concealer and highlighter), a smudge brush (for blending the above) and a brow gel. As the name suggests, the Universal Brow Pencil is supposed to work for almost all hair colours and skin tones, from blonde to brunette. I personally love it, but I would be intrigued to see how it works on a true blonde with really fair brows, as it's quite dark and heavy. Perhaps it all depends on how you apply it.
My favourite item from the kit is the highlighter on the Brow Duo Pencil. The smudge brush does an excellent job of blending this under your arch and the subtle, creamy highlight adds a lovely touch of definition to your brows. I don't tend to use the concealer much, but they are always handy to have, while the brow gel is great if you have long, unruly brow hairs like me.
The quality of all the products is really good - the shades are excellent and they all apply smoothly. What I personally would love to see included in a kit like this would be some sort of guidance on shaping brows, so that you could maybe go longer between waxing or threading appointments, but that's just me being picky. These are great products and I'd definitely buy them again.
Finally, here's a nice photo of my eyebrows for you! I've used the powder and angled brush to define the shape, filled them in with the Universal Brow Pencil, highlighted the arch and set them with the gel. I haven't had a brow appointment for months, but I think the combination of powder and highlighter really helps to cheat that sharp line you get from a brow wax.

I have read really great reviews on this kit but the price is a touch steep for me. I don't spend much on my brow products so I stick to drugstore brands. Great giveaway and good luck everyone!
