April Favourites

April Favourites - Garnier Micellar Water, Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob, Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm, Nip+Fab Cellulite Fix Body Sculpting Gel, River Island Cat Eye Sunglasses

Now here is a very pared down April Favourites for you. I find I could go either way with this type of post, but I would rather keep it short and sweet and just tell you about the few real hero products I've been loving over the last month. So without further ado, here they are.

1. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I tried this for the first time this month, and my skin has never felt cleaner. I did wonder if it could really live up to the hype and in my opinion it absolutely does. It removes all traces of makeup - eyes, lips and face - with a gentle wipe of a cotton pad, no scrubbing required. Incredibly effective, yet it feels just like water on the skin. I like to use it before washing my face with my usual creamy cleanser, to make sure my skin gets a really deep clean, but it's also effective enough on its own, which is great for those days when I'm shattered and just want to fall into bed as quickly as possible. I can't see myself being without this product now!

2. Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob

Like so many people right now I'm loving the Kylie Jenner lip trend. I've been trying to get my hands on Mac's Velvet Teddy, the lipstick she is said to use to create her famous pout, but it is constantly sold out because EVERYONE wants Kylie Jenner's lips. I was in Boots a couple of weeks ago and remembered hearing that this particular Rimmel lip pencil was a good substitute, so I thought I would give it a try, and I love it. I wear it all over my lips like a lipstick. It's a lovely pinky nude shade and has a velvety matte finish. Its only downside is that it's slightly drying, so I make sure I've moisturised my lips before applying it, which is where favourite number 3 comes in.

3. Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm

I discovered this when I received it in a gift box full of Lush goodies for my birthday last year, and loved it so much that I had to go out and buy another one as soon as I finished it. I have to say, though, I did hesitate when I saw the price. £5.75 for 8g of lip balm?! I'm normally quite happy to splash the cash when it comes to beauty products I really like, but this seems pretty extravagant to me. That said, it really is a beautiful product. It has the scent and texture of fudge and is a real pleasure to use, as well as being very effective at softening lips. I also love Lush's lip scrubs - this is one of the many things that they do incredibly well.

4. Nip+Fab Cellulite Fix Body Sculpting Gel

While I don't believe that any topically applied product can get rid of cellulite, this one has definitely improved the tone and texture of my skin. It feels firmer and smoother with just a few applications. I remember discovering this last year and loving it, so with summer just around the corner I'm planning to use it in combination with healthy eating and lots of exercise to get bikini ready... she says optimistically! Well, every little bit helps, right? I'm really impressed with this sculpting gel and with Nip+Fab as a brand. I definitely want to try out some more of their products.

5. River Island Cat Eye Sunglasses

I love these. I'm a big sunglasses fan in general and wear them all year round - if there's the slightest hint of brightness I will always have a pair of shades to pull out of my bag. When you wear them a lot it's nice to have a few different pairs to mix things up a little, and these make a fun change from the other styles I own. Plus they were a steal at River Island for just £10!

So that concludes my April Favourites. Any of yours on this list? And what have you been loving this month?

  3. I thought those sunnies were from River Island, I have a similar pair I brought there a few years ago :) I agree with you about the Rimmel lip pencil, it's a nice colour but can be drying.

I'm currently using Soap & Glory firming lotion, anything that'll help get my legs summer ready is a must!

  5. I use Honey Trap all the time. Chocolate Whip is great, too, but Honey Trap was the one I wore when I met my husband. Nothing can beat these sweet memories.

  10. I really want to pick up that Rimmel lip liner, it's annoying that it's slightly drying as I have dry lips anyway so I'll definitely have to moisturize them properly
